About the Opportunity
A leading defence and technology engineering environment is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join its Hardware Engineering team. The organisation develops advanced electronic and security technologies supporting air, land, sea, and civil security applications across local and international markets.
This opportunity is suited to technically strong engineers with experience in firmware, digital, or analog hardware design environments, particularly within high-performance and mission-critical systems.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced hardware and firmware solutions.
Requirements
Technical Exposure
- Experience with vendor FPGA and SoC platforms, including Xilinx, Intel/Altera, and Microsemi.
- Experience with high-speed serial interfaces.
- Experience with PCIe, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and Aurora interfaces.
- Experience with DDR memory systems.
- Experience with high-speed A2D / D2A interfaces.
- Knowledge of DC-DC converters and power regulation.
- Knowledge of EMI compliance and filtering.
- Knowledge of mil-spec protection and power conditioning.
Tools & Technologies
- Proficiency with the FPGA development toolchain, including Vivado, Quartus Prime, and LiberoSoC.
- Experience with HDL Designer and ModelSim.
- Experience with HyperLynx.
- Experience with Mentor Designer.
- Experience with LTSpice.
- Experience with requirements traceability, including tools such as DOORS.
Requirements
- BEng degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in firmware, digital, or analog hardware design.
- Strong VHDL coding capability and FPGA design experience.
- Experience with testing, debugging, and hardware integration.
- Experience producing technical design and test documentation.
- Experience in defence, mission-critical, or safety/compliance-driven engineering environments.
- Experience with formal verification or simulation workflows.
- Experience with configuration and version control discipline.
- Experience with compliance-driven development processes.
Advantageous Experience
- Experience with Xilinx RFSoC or high-speed A2D interfacing to FPGA transceivers.
