As part of our growing operations, we are looking for a highly motivated Procurement Manager to join our team in Athens. This role is responsible for overseeing procurement operations, supplier management, and strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure cost-effective, sustainable, and regulatory-compliant procurement of goods and services. 

The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing procurement operations, supplier management, sourcing initiatives to ensure cost-effective, sustainable, and regulatory-compliant procurement of goods and services. This role requires an in-depth understanding of waste management and maritime industries. Proven knowledge of procurement best practices and supplier negotiation expertise is also required, together with the ability to drive supply chain efficiencies while adhering to environmental and industry standards. 

 

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s financial, operational, and sustainability goals. 
  • Establish policies and procedures to optimize procurement efficiency and cost-effectiveness. 
  • Support cross-functional teams in supplier selection and contract negotiations. 

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that meet quality, sustainability, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Negotiate suppliers contracts and service-level agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions. 
  • Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop improvement plans as necessary.

  • Analyze market trends and procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance. 
  • Work closely with finance and operations teams to develop and manage procurement budgets. 
  • Implement cost-control initiatives while maintaining service reliability. 

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with international marine waste management regulations and industry standards. 
  • Promote sustainable procurement practices, including responsible sourcing and waste reduction initiatives. 
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies to stay updated on environmental laws and compliance requirements. 

  • Assess potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies. 
  • Establish contingency plans to manage disruptions in procurement and logistics operations. 
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of supplier operations. 

  • Leverage digital procurement tools and data analytics to enhance procurement efficiency and decision-making. 
  • Explore innovative sourcing strategies and emerging technologies in waste management to optimize procurement operations. 
  • Drive automation and system integration efforts to streamline procurement workflows. 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • 8-12 years of procurement experience, with at 5 least years in a supervising role within the maritime, environmental, or waste management sector. 
  • Fluent in Greek, English, Italic or Arabic (written and spoken) will be considered as additional asset. 
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills. 
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement regulations, environmental compliance, and international supply chain management. 
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management and cross-functional collaboration.
