The position is responsible to ensure packages are shipped on time and in accordance to purchase and sales order instructions in order for customers to receive products in the same condition that products were sent. Also responsible for receiving incoming materials and getting them to their respective departments.  Works under general supervision. Although the location of the position is in Rochester, NY, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations. 

  • Picks and packs products and materials in a timely and efficient manner according to the printed purchase and sales orders.
  • Knowledge of all shipping reports.
  • Knowledge of all distributor shipping requirements.
  • Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Assists in loading trucks, van or helping courier services in locating packages to ensure their correct destination.
  • Verifies number of pieces being received.
  • Tracks and organize all incoming and outgoing inventory.
  • Unpack and store supplies, as well as, delivers items to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area at all times.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse experience with previous warehouse and/or inventory control experience is a plus

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards.
  • Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing priorities

The estimated pay range for this role is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
