About the role

Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To support the effective coordination, administration and delivery of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) & high needs provision within the Sixth Form. The postholder will work closely with the SENCo, Head of 6th Form, teaching staff, students, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure students with SEND receive high-quality support, timely reviews and appropriate interventions.

The role will combine administrative coordination, student support across the four broad areas of need including curriculum support and operational oversight of EHCP & high need provision and processes. This role will include direct work with students.

 

Key Responsibilities

EHCP Administration and Coordination

  • Coordinate and support annual EHCP reviews, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and within statutory deadlines.
  • Chair annual review meetings where appropriate and collate contributions from staff, students, parents/carers and external professionals.
  • Maintain accurate SEND and EHCP records, ensuring systems and documentation remain compliant and up to date.
  • Support the provision mapping and tracking of interventions for students with SEND.
  • Monitor review dates, funding deadlines and required actions to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, evidence and supporting documentation relating to SEND provision and funding applications.

Student Support

  • Support students with EHCPs / high needs through targeted interventions, direct work, regular check-ins and liaison with staff.
  • Assist in coordinating support plans and One Page Profiles for students within the Sixth Form.
  • Support students in developing independence, organisation and readiness for adulthood.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure classroom strategies and reasonable adjustments are implemented effectively.
  • Support transition arrangements into, through and beyond Sixth Form, including college, employment and apprenticeship pathways.
  • Attend meetings, reviews and transition visits as required.

Operational SEND Support

  • Liaise regularly with teachers, tutors and support staff regarding student progress, provision and emerging concerns.
  • Support the SENCo in monitoring the quality and impact of SEND provision.
  • Assist with the coordination of in-class support and interventions.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Support applications for additional funding and assist with tracking the use and impact of SEND funding.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained in relation to all student information.

Additional Information

This role may include a combination of administrative responsibilities, direct student support and attendance at meetings both on and off site.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring students with SEND are fully supported to respect, believe and achieve throughout their Sixth Form journey.

Requirements

  2. Essential
    • Experience of working with young people with SEND.
    • Experience of supporting students with their learning across the curriculum.
    • Experience of interventions, including monitoring through pre and post assessments.
    • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and school-based systems.
    • Ability to build positive working relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
    • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and confidentiality requirements.
  3. Desirable
    • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation.
    • Previous experience within a school or college environment.
    • Experience of coordinating meetings and maintaining statutory records.
    • Understanding of post-16 SEND provision and transition planning.
