More than just tutoring, this role is about sparking confidence, building independence, and helping each student discover the joy of learning.<strong><br></strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>*This job posting is for our 2026-2027 school year.&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Essential Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide academic support to students individually or in small groups across a variety of subjects.</li> <li>Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring with classroom learning and student goals.</li> <li>Track student progress through notes, assessments, and regular follow-up.</li> <li>Encourage students to approach learning with positivity, persistence, and curiosity.</li> <li>Boost students’ confidence, helping them reduce anxiety and see themselves as capable learners.</li> <li>Motivate students to stay engaged and take ownership of their academic journey.</li> <li>Strengthen study skills that promote long-term academic success.</li> <li>Serve as a trusted role model, demonstrating respect, responsibility, and resilience.</li> <li>Support school culture by monitoring student behavior during lunch and recess coverage.&nbsp;</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or Principal.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Minimum Experience and Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent&nbsp;</li> <li>Must possess strong math and reading skills.</li> <li>Availability to work 4 hours daily, Monday–Friday (10AM–2PM)&nbsp;</li> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.</li> <li>Enthusiasm for working with children and building partnerships with parents/caregivers.</li> <li>Dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.</li> <li>Ability to form strong, trusting relationships with students and colleagues.</li> <li>Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.</li> <li>Completion and pass pre-employment Fingerprinting and Reference check process</li> <li>Legally eligible to work in the United States</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Experience and Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree</li> <li>1 year experience teaching, tutoring, counseling, and/or interaction with children.</li> <li>New York State Teacher Assistant Certification</li> <li>Ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish fluently</li> </ul> <p><strong>Amber’s Expectations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Regular attendance and punctuality</li> <li>Maintain a professional appearance</li> <li>Organizational fit for Amber culture, that is, exhibit the Amber Traits of Achievement, Community, Responsibility, Honesty, and Respect</li> </ul> <p><strong>&nbsp;Equipment</strong></p> <ul> <li>Laptop, Promethean board, classroom, and office equipment&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Environment/Physical Effort:</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Regularly required to sit, stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, speak loudly and clearly, visually observe, hear, operate a computer, and other classroom, school and office equipment, reach with hands and arms, bend down, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 20 pounds. Work is being performed in a traditional multi-floor school environment with limited to no elevator access.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Schedule</strong></p> <ul> <li>10-month work schedule (September-June) <ul> <li style="font-style: italic;"><em>Training for this role will begin the last two weeks of August 2026 prior to the start of the school year in September 2026</em></li> </ul> </li> <li>20 hours per week.</li> <li>Monday-Friday 10am-2pm (typically)&nbsp; <ul> <li>As a part-time employee, you are only paid for hours worked.&nbsp;</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong><em>Compensation</em></strong></p> <ul> <li><em>Amber Charter Schools strictly follow a salary schedule for each role to ensure our continued commitment towards pay equity. The expected salary range</em><strong><em> </em></strong><em>&nbsp;for this role is </em><strong><em>$18</em></strong><strong><em> - $20 an hour </em></strong><em>depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications and/or licenses for the role.
