
About the role
Our client is seeking to recruit an Accountant to join their growing team in Malta or Gozo. This opportunity is ideal for a fully qualified accountant who is looking to further develop their professional career within a dynamic and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised, motivated, and detail-oriented professional with at least two years of experience in a client accounting role. Reporting to the Accounts Manager and Assistant Manager, the selected individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality accounting and compliance services.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate the work of the accounts department.
Review work prepared by Accounts Executives and junior team members.
Ensure assignments are completed within agreed deadlines.
Maintain compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with auditors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Address client queries and provide professional support.
Prepare and submit VAT returns.
Prepare year-end financial statements and management accounts.
Maintain and update client bookkeeping records on a regular basis.
Support management with additional accounting-related tasks as required.
Requirements
University degree in Accountancy (Honours or Master's) or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
Recognised Maltese VAT qualification from an established professional institution.
Minimum of two years' experience in a client accounting environment.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Knowledge of Italian will be considered an asset.
Solid understanding of GAPSME and IFRS.
