Staff Accountant IV

Nova 401(k) Associates, a certified Great Place to Work, is hiring a Staff Accountant IV.</p> <p>A significant portion of this role involves navigating different platforms, running multiple reports to research issues, and troubleshooting sync issues between systems. While this is an accounting position, a large amount of time is spent problem solving—tracking down transactions, reconciling data across systems, and identifying where issues originate. With the volume of data flowing between Nova’s various software programs, it is essential that the person in this role is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable learning new systems quickly.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own&nbsp;reconciliations across multiple entities and systems&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ensure alignment between billing, cash, and general ledger&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Investigate and resolve discrepancies across systems&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Maintain&nbsp;accurate&nbsp;general ledger and support month-end close&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Perform cross-system reconciliations (accounting, billing, payroll, payments)&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Monitor data integrity and troubleshoot system/data issues&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Identify&nbsp;and resolve missing or misclassified transactions&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Maintain balance sheet schedules and intercompany accounts&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Review journal entries and support accounting workflows&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Reconcile payroll, benefits, and related billing&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Improve processes, controls,&nbsp;and documentation&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Review work&nbsp;prepared by junior accountants&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate with AR, tax,&nbsp;and other internal teams&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Support audits, compliance reporting, and insurance renewals&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Create and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;written procedures&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>7&nbsp;+ years of accounting experience (multi-entity preferred)&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of cash and accrual accounting&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Advanced reconciliation and problem-solving skills&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience reviewing work of junior staff&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience in developing and&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;procedures&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience in small to mid-sized professional services firms&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Excellent written&nbsp;and&nbsp;oral communication skills&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with S-corporations a plus&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with&nbsp;QuickBooks&nbsp;Online,&nbsp;ChargeOver&nbsp;(or other SAAS billing),&nbsp;and&nbsp;Bill.com a plus&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Self-starter with strong ownership mindset and attention to detail&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Compensation and Benefits:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Base Salary $100,000-$120,000</li> <li>Salaried, exempt</li> <li>Medical, dental, disability, and life insurance</li> <li>Paid time off</li> <li>401(k) plan with employer match</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Work Location/Hours:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hybrid (3 days in office during training period, 1 day in office after training period)</li> <li>Must be able to work from our Houston, TX office located at 10777 Northwest Freeway Suite 440 Houston, TX 77092</li> <li>Must work from USA and be authorized to work for any US employer</li> <li>We will supply all necessary computer equipment</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We get it.
