Role Mission

As our Senior Accounting, Tax and AP in Romania, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end accounting cycle for the local market. You will ensure seamless compliance with Romanian GAAP and tax regulations, manage the full Accounts Payable cycle, and supervise our Accounts Receivables Analyst. You will liaise with local accounting and tax advisors and serve as the key financial contact for our Romanian operations. This role is the financial backbone of our Romanian operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-Cycle Accounting Ownership: Manage the end-to-end accounting process for the Romanian office, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up to date, ensuring a precise month-end close.

• Operational Finance: Execute daily Accounts Payable (AP) operations and perform meticulous Bank Reconciliations to maintain a clear cash position.

• Regulatory Compliance: Apply deep knowledge of the Romanian General Accounting Plan and local tax regulations, including VAT, corporate income tax, withholding taxes, SAF-T (D406) and e-Factura obligations. Liaise with external tax advisors and manage ANAF reporting requirements.

• System Mastery (NetSuite): Navigate and maintain the NetSuite ERP system, ensuring data integrity across all financial modules.

• Cost & Campaign Integration: Track and link purchase orders (PO) to specific consultancy campaigns, providing a clear view of project costs and profitability.

• Supervise and support the Accounts Receivables Analyst, providing day-to-day guidance, ensuring alignment between the AP and AR cycles for accurate month-end close.

Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience (+4 years) in accounting, tax compliance and accounts payable, combining a minimum of 2 years in a Big 4 or Tier 1 consulting firm with at least 2 years in a startup or scale-up environment in a similar hands-on role.

• Substantial experience working with the Romanian General Accounting Plan and local fiscal/tax regulations. 

• Experience with an ERP system is required; NetSuite or Oracle knowledge is a strong advantage

• Native or 100% fluency in Romanian combined with a C1 level of English.

• You are committed to achieving measurable outcomes through meticulous organization, high attention to detail, and a disciplined focus on KPIs.

• Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members, with the ability to review their work, provide feedback, and ensure quality standards are met.
