Based in Vancouver, Community Land Trust (CLT) is a social purpose real estate developer focused on creating communities people are proud to call home. CLT currently has more than 34 properties in their portfolio, with more than 2,600 occupied homes and another 1,200 homes in development or under construction in Victoria, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, Vancouver, Surrey, New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Kelowna and North Cowichan.


Over the past 10 years, CLT has grown significantly, building their own real estate, development, asset management, and finance divisions.  Today, CLT has a real asset portfolio of approximately $1.25 billion, with $45 million in operating budgets and a team of over 55 staff.

Purpose of the Position 
You will be joining a collaborative team that supports existing properties, contributes to new developments, and works with partners to advance affordable housing.


Reporting to the Senior Property Accountant, the A/P Clerk is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions, acting as a point of contact for vendor inquiries, and supporting day to day A/P operations. This includes preparing payment journals, liaising with third parties on outstanding items, and reconciling vendor statements. The role provides the opportunity to build foundational accounting knowledge and gain exposure to broader finance processes over time.


Key Responsibilities
The A/P Clerk’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, including verifying invoices, matching to purchase orders and receipts, and ensuring proper coding and approvals
  • Respond to vendor inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and escalate issues as needed
  • Prepare and process vendor payments, including cheque and electronic payments, ensuring payments are completed on time
  • Reconcile vendor statements to confirm all invoices are received and recorded correctly
  • Reconcile corporate credit card statements to ensure expenses are accurately recorded
  • Enter financial data into Yardi Voyager, including invoices, payments, and expense reports
  • Generate standard accounts payable reports to support the accounting team
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all accounts payable transactions
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
  • Support month end and year end working files
  • Assist property and project accountants with financial reporting
  • Gain exposure to financial processes, reporting, and systems within a real estate environment
  • Perform other finance related duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Post secondary education in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or financial administration
  • Experience working with accounting software. Experience with Yardi Voyager is an asset
  • Experience in real estate, property management, or non profit housing is an asset
  • Interest in developing an accounting career
  • Interest in the non market housing or co operative housing sector


Skills & Abilities

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong numerical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles is an asset
  • Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility over time


Compensation

$51,000 - $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus comprehensive benefits, retirement and education allowances.
