About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and lead comprehensive publicity and communication strategies that drive impact
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key sports media, including journalists, editors, broadcasters, and influencers
- Develop and lead creative, earned-first storytelling initiatives that push the boundaries of traditional media coverage, and drive content creation across digital, broadcast, and social platforms to ensure consistent brand messaging
- Work closely with top-tier talent, agents, and managers to maximise media opportunities, ensuring that both established and emerging talent contribute to enhancing the sports brand narrative
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of complex PR and communications campaigns, collaborating closely with marketing, creative, and digital teams to amplify campaigns across channels and ensure messaging is aligned
- Act as a key communication liaison with sports associations, governing bodies, sponsors, partners, and senior internal members
- Serve as a point of contact for issues pertaining to the sports brands, providing timely and accurate responses to media inquiries
About your experience
- 7-10 years of experience in journalism, sports communications, PR, or media relations, with a strong background in managing high-profile campaigns or working with major sports teams/organisations.
- Proven ability to manage crisis situations with calmness, professionalism, and a strategic approach.
- Understands how to navigate the world of publicity from talent to schedules to interviews to big season launches - you have done it all but are always pushing boundaries and learning from one to the next.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple deadlines and shifting priorities, especially during sports seasons or events.
- Storytelling and editorial expertise - We’re looking for someone who consumes and engages with the media and culture on a daily basis, loves to talk about it, write about it and share it with others.
- You'll be skilled in managing campaigns and projects end-to-end - from ideation through to execution - confidently pitching and selling concepts to both internal and external stakeholders while leading delivery.
- Curious – asking questions, all the time. A natural inquisitiveness, always seeking new insights and innovative ways to drive the business forward
- Deep understanding and experience within the sports media landscape and a passion for crafting narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, from traditional sports fans to those exploring new forms of content.
