Overview
Brookdale Community College seeks a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Jewelry 1 for the Fall 2025 semester. This course introduces students to fundamental jewelry fabrication techniques and design principles.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures, demonstrations, and studio instruction in jewelry making.
- Develop a course syllabus addendum aligned with department standards, including objectives, outcomes, and grading criteria.
- Cover metal fabrication techniques, such as sawing, filing, soldering, texturing, and forming.
- Introduce the safe use of jewelry studio tools and equipment.
- Hold office hours to support students outside of class.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- MFA degree in jewelry or metals or BFA degree with a concentration in jewelry or metals combined with a minimum of five years of recent professional experience.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations, both Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Institutional.
- Ability to monitor safety procedures required to handle gas, acids, kilns, resins, and power equipment.
- Comprehensive skills in soldering, casting, etching, and enameling.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to teaching excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience at the college level.
- Experience with diverse student populations.
- Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend courses may be available in Lincroft, Western Monmouth and Higher Education Centers.Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
