<h3><strong>Senior Android (Kotlin) Engineer — Digital Signage / Embedded Media Platform (Contract)</strong></h3> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Job Title: </strong>Contract<strong> </strong>Senior Android (Kotlin) Engineer — Digital Signage / Embedded Media Platform&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Work Location: </strong>Remote, must be US based</p> <p><strong>Reports to: </strong>Chief Architect</p> <p><strong>Employment Type: </strong>1099 Contract, 20 - 40 hours per week</p> <p><strong>Salary: </strong>$100/hour</p> <p><strong>Summary:<br></strong>We're building a digital signage platform that runs across Android, webOS, and Tizen devices, and we need a senior Android engineer with real embedded/signage experience to help us level it up.</p> <p>This is a 20-40 hour a week 1099 contract role. This role is not a full time opportunity at this time.</p> <p><br><strong>The Work:</strong><br>Media playback, device management, content delivery, and platform reliability across a fleet of long-running devices. This is device platform engineering, not mobile app development.<br><br>If you've built signage or smart TV software at scale — especially on signageos.io — please mention it up front in your proposal.</p> <p><strong>Must-have Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Strong Android development in Kotlin</li> <li>Experience building for digital signage, smart TV, streaming devices, kiosks, or similar embedded media platforms</li> <li>Comfort with concurrency, async, multithreading, and debugging race conditions and memory issues</li> <li>Experience building for 24/7 device uptime</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to Have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with the signageos.io platform</li> <li>Android SoC work (Amlogic, Rockchip, Qualcomm, MediaTek)</li> <li>Media3 / ExoPlayer, hardware decoders, video playback pipelines webOS or Tizen</li> <li>MDM / fleet management, MQTT</li> <li>Performance tuning on constrained hardware</li> </ul>
