About the role
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day-to-day application support for Veson IMOS, acting as a first and second-line support point for Shipping users.
- Troubleshoot functional and data-related issues, working closely with business users to understand requirements and resolve problems efficiently.
- Liaise with Veson support and internal technology teams as required to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Support configuration, testing, and rollout of system changes, enhancements, and upgrades.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports based on data sourced from Veson IMOS.
- Write and optimise queries against Veson IMOS databases to extract, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analytics use.
- Design and expose web services from Veson IMOS to enable secure consumption of data by Power BI and other reporting tools.
- Work closely with the Lead Business Intelligence Developer to ensure reporting aligns with enterprise BI standards and best practice.
- Support Shipping and management stakeholders with insights, ad-hoc analysis, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability between Veson IMOS and downstream reporting platforms.
- Document data models, queries, interfaces, and reporting logic to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to improvements in data quality, automation, and reporting efficiency.
- Provide support and guidance on Microsoft 365 tools including Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Assist users with advanced Excel usage (e.g. Power Query, data modelling, templates) where required.
- Support adoption of standard reporting and collaboration tools across the Shipping department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience supporting Veson IMOS (functional and/or technical).
- Strong Power BI experience, including data modelling, DAX, and report development.
- Ability to write SQL or equivalent queries against Veson IMOS data sources.
- Experience creating web services or APIs from line-of-business systems for reporting consumption.
- Strong understanding of shipping operations, chartering, or maritime processes.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 productivity tools, particularly Excel and Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and methodical in approach.
- Experience working within a shipping, trading, or commodity environment.
- Familiarity with data governance, reporting standards, and controlled data access.
- Experience working in a matrixed reporting environment (solid and dotted-line reporting).
