Job Summary:
The MI Financial Appraisal Underwriting Department has a position open for a Appraisal Underwriter. The Underwriter will review and assess the Residential Appraisals provided by third party Appraisers. The Underwriter will work with the Appraisal Report and the Collateral Analytics Report in a timely manner to ensure the Appraisal meets MI Financial guidelines and Government Agency requirements. The Underwriter is responsible for identifying errors or deficiencies in the Appraisal and communicating with the Appraisers to resolve them and obtain a revision. The Underwriter will communicate with Internal partners to advise them of decisions regarding the approval of the Appraisals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to complete Underwriting reviews and tasks and utilize Government Underwriting Guidelines and Collateral Analytics in order to approve Appraisals.
- Complete the M/I Financial and Government Agency Training Programs necessary to obtain Conventional, FHA, and VA Appraisal Underwriting certifications.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. 3 years of Mortgage and Appraisal Underwriting experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Communicate in a professional and effective manner with M/I Financial Corporate and Branch staff and Appraisers to explain concerns, answer questions, and give direction to resolve issues. Exhibit good customer service skills and a strong sense of urgency in order to manage workload and meet deadlines. Exhibit attention to accuracy and detail in order to effectively review the appraisal and reduce errors. Ability to research and analyze new government and lender guidelines and changes to requirements. Ability to develop solutions to problems and make decisions necessary to underwrite and approve appraisals. General administrative and computer skills and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and procedures.
