Assistant Controller

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em>This a New York City based position with four days a week in office required.</em></span></p> <p>Aimé Leon Dore is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the accounting function and play a key role in strengthening financial operations as the company continues to scale. This role will report into the Controller.</p> <p>This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is ready to step into broader responsibility, drive process improvements, and operate with a high level of ownership in a fast-paced, growing business.</p> <h3>Core Responsibilities</h3> <h4>Accounting &amp; Close Ownership</h4> <ul> <li>Support and progressively take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes</li> <li>Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across multiple entities</li> <li>Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules</li> </ul> <h4>Financial Reporting &amp; Compliance</h4> <ul> <li>Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP</li> <li>Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors</li> <li>Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of cash flow reporting and forecasts to support business operations</li> <li>Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies</li> </ul> <h4>Process Improvement &amp; Scalability</h4> <ul> <li>Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency</li> <li>Help implement systems and workflows that support a growing, multi-entity business</li> <li>Strengthen documentation and standardization across accounting functions</li> </ul> <h4>Cross-Functional Partnership</h4> <ul> <li>Partner with Finance, Operations, and other teams to ensure accurate financial inputs and reporting</li> <li>Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with leadership</li> <li>Provide visibility into financial performance and key metrics</li> </ul> <h4>Team &amp; Leadership Development</h4> <ul> <li>Support and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable</li> <li>Take on increasing leadership responsibility within the accounting function over time</li> </ul> <h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>5–8+ years of accounting experience, ideally within retail, consumer, or multi-entity environments</li> <li>Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting</li> <li>Experience supporting or leading month-end close processes</li> <li>Exposure to audit processes and internal controls</li> <li>High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Ability to operate independently and take ownership of workstreams</li> <li>CPA preferred</li> </ul> <p><strong>Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000</strong></p><div class="content-conclusion"><p>Aimé Leon Dore is from Queens, NY.
