Job Title: Automotive Technician – Level II
Reports to: After Sales Manager
Job Summary: The Level Two Automotive Technician plays a vital role in our team, performing services and repairs on various vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. They are required to operate professionally and provide on the job coaching to Level One Technicians.
Objectives of this Role:
- In accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, perform general repairs, maintenance, and services to the engine, transmission, drivetrain, steering, suspension, brakes and electrical components of internal combustion engine, electric, and hybrid electric
- Clocks on and off jobs assigned in dealer management system (DMS) as needed.
- Effectively records on repair orders/DMS the condition of components being inspected.
- Completes services and repairs efficiently, in accordance with the times set by manufacturers, to ensure a high level of productivity.
- Operates carefully, ensuring that services and repairs are completed correctly the first time.
- Ensures that work is completed without damaging or dirtying customers’ vehicles.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve work-related questions and problems, providing assistance and guidance as needed.
- Assist in responding to customer inquiries and complaints, coordinating with management to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Read wiring diagrams and perform basic electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Escalates technically complex repairs to Diagnostic Technician (DT) and Management.
- Maintains a clean and professional workstation.
- Attend training sessions to learn shop procedures and automotive maintenance techniques.
- Keep equipment maintenance and servicing records.
- Contribute ideas for process improvements and modifications to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
General Job Requirements
- Diagnose the cause of mechanical and electrical failure, drivability problems, and safety problems in automotive equipment and determine appropriate repairs needed.
- Perform skilled repair work on automotive equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on automotive vehicles.
- Use hand and power tools safely and skilfully.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions and plans.
- Store records.
- Safely lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
- Fabricate using welding equipment.
- Work cooperatively with others and provide positive customer service.
- Input, access and analyze data using a computer and adapt to technical changes.
Skills and Education
- Automotive diploma or equivalent high level of technical qualification
- 3+ years experience as an Automotive Technician
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues.
- Basic working knowledge of diagnostic tools and software
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in small spaces.
