Contract Police Officer Opportunities – West Vancouver Police Department

Are you a recently retired police officer (within the last three years) or approaching retirement? West Vancouver Police is proud to offer flexible and rewarding 2-Year Contract Policing opportunities designed to keep experienced officers engaged in meaningful service.

 

Our jurisdiction includes the District of West Vancouver and the village of Xwemelch’stn (Capilano Reserve), located within the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). We serve a diverse and vibrant community across 87 square kilometers of stunning natural landscape, from sea level to mountain peaks.

Temporary Full Time Contract Policing Program:

• Compensated at the rate of 115% of the 1st Class Constable hourly rate
• 15 % premium in lieu of pension benefits
• Extended Health Benefits
• Dental Services Plan

 

Types and leave entitlement (pro-rated for partial years of employment):

• • 240 hours of paid annual leave per calendar year
  • 40 hours of Wellness Leave
  • 104 hours of Statutory Leave
  • 104 hours of Float Leave
  • Sick Leave in accordance with the Employment Standards Act
    
    
    
    
• Patrol Team – 2 Options
  • Day Rotation – Attached to two different Patrol Teams – 4 on 4 off rotation, 4 straight days (4×12 hours)
    • 0700 to 1900 hrs or 0900 to 2100 hrs
  • Day and Night Rotation – Attached to a Patrol Team – 4 on 4 off rotation, for 2 days and 2 nights
    • 2 days 0700-1900 hrs & 2 nights 1900-0700 hrs
• Specialty Section

Days on a Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday schedule (4×10 hours)

Major Investigations Team

 

Casual Contract Policing Program:

• Casual Patrol Employee
• Compensated at the rate of 115% of the 1st Class Constable hourly rate
• Sick Leave in accordance with the Employment Standards Act
• Callout when no Permanent Full-Time member is available
• 4 shifts minimum a month (12 hours/shift)
• 12 % of additional pay in lieu of benefits
