Senior Backend Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who can architect, build, and scale resilient backend systems that power his products. You’ll play a critical role in designing APIs, ensuring system reliability, and leading backend best practices. You’ll collaborate closely with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver robust solutions that support our client mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of backend systems and APIs.
• Define and enforce backend engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.
• Mentor and guide backend engineers, fostering technical excellence and growth.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and data/ML teams to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

• Ensure system performance, reliability, and security at scale.
• Drive continuous improvement in CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Participate in technical roadmap planning and system design discussions.
• Explore and adopt emerging technologies to enhance backend efficiency and innovation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js/JavaScript for backend development.
• Experience with API design (REST and/or GraphQL) and microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven experience building secure, scalable, and high-performance systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, message queues, or distributed systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions) is a plus.
