Sr. Backend Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (with potential to grow into Team Lead) to design, build, and scale robust backend systems. You’ll take ownership of key projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical excellence across the team.

• Architect, develop, and optimize backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver complex features.
• Drive best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to strategic decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience, building and maintaining production-grade systems.
• Strong expertise in backend development, primarily using PHP (Yii2, Laravel) and/or Node.js; experience with Python is a plus.
• Solid understanding of system design, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design.
• Hands-on experience working with relational and non-relational databases, including MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and ClickHouse.
• Experience with caching, performance optimization, and data consistency, using tools such as Redis.
• Familiarity with containerized environments using Docker, and experience collaborating with DevOps teams.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and to participate actively in code reviews.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex backend issues in production.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth product environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (mobile, QA, product, data).
• Demonstrated ownership mindset.

Nice to Have

• Experience in food delivery, e-commerce, or marketplace platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Exposure to search technologies (ElasticSearch, Solr) or event-driven systems.
• Experience working with legacy systems and leading refactoring efforts.
