About the role
- Hyperscale Quality Inspections: Conduct comprehensive inspections of electrical infrastructure (Substations, Switchgear, UPS, and Generators) to ensure 100% compliance with blueprints, hyperscale specifications, and NEC standards.
- BESS & Energy Storage Oversight: Lead the QA/QC process for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This includes verifying the installation of battery modules, thermal management systems, and the integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) with the overall building management network.
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and track electrical non-conformances. Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure corrective actions are completed without impacting the project schedule.
- Safety & LOTO: Practice Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols during the transition from construction to energized states. Ensure all work adheres to NFPA 70E and site-specific safety requirements.
- Digital Documentation: Maintain precise, real-time records of all inspections and tests using tablet-based project management software (e.g., Procore, BIM 360, or CxAlloy).
- Licensure: Active Electrical State License (Journeyman or Master) required.
- Experience: 3–5 years in large-scale industrial or commercial construction. Prior experience on a hyperscale or mission-critical site is strongly preferred.
- BESS Knowledge: Proven understanding of stationary energy storage systems, including battery safety, inverter functionality, and interconnections.
- Precision-Minded: You understand that in a hyperscale environment, a 1% margin of error is too high.
- Safety-First: You have a deep commitment to electrical safety and the rigor required for high-voltage environments.
- Tech-Savy: You are comfortable using digital tools to track thousands of assets and testing points.
- NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace)
- State Journeyman License
- Familiarity with NFPA 855 (Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage Systems)
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.
