About the role
Job Purpose
- Conduct surveillance checks at consumer bank branches to assess compliance to Regional Branch Health Check framework and Branch Operational Framework.
Key Accountabilities
- To conduct onsite and offsite control testing of branch controls covering all branch activities.
- The role involves extensive travel to DBIL branches across country, including rural location for timely completion of the audit reviews assigned from time to time
- Minimum 10 branches need to be audited per quarter covering ~190 controls ( subject to changes in process, controls and regulatory guideline changes)
- To coordinate and review self-assessment reports submitted by branches.
- Ensure all the artefacts are uploaded in share point post validation , open issues are followed up for remediation.
- Performing Quality Checking of BHC Draft Result issued by Reviewer.
- Preparing various MIS which includes, Internal MIS and preparation of data for various meetings.
- Provide value-added training programs to enhance staff’s competency in the areas of branch operations, information security standards and staff conduct
- Participate in performance of Thematic reviews as and when assigned.
Job Duties & responsibilities
- Perform Branch surveillance through conducting inspections and thematic reviews to assess fulfilment with established procedures / requirements:
- Identify control risks, gaps in controls and potential branch operational issues and recommend corrective action to strengthen the branch operational framework, controls, and management.
- Assess branch operational activities are performed in compliance with framework and guidelines.
- Develop risk-based strategies and surveillance programs based on insights and trends derived through analysis of data.
- Provide timely reporting on surveillance findings and trends to relevant stakeholders.
- Analyse surveillance findings, identify risks/gaps in processes and controls to provide improvement and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and implement methodology to be efficient and effective.
- Conduct workshop / refresher classes – to increase level of awareness of control / risks.
- Partnership with stakeholders to strengthen communication and identify opportunities to enhance or refine controls. \Curate eLearning training modules to enhance risk awareness and process adherence of Branch/Service staff across all levels. Ensure timely update of training modules.
Quality of inspection
- Complete physical inspection of Branches within the allocated time ( 4-5 days per branch visit)
- Submission of good quality inspection report within stipulated time
Remediation
- Spot rectification of Inspection observations & comments/violations; as well as liaising with branches subsequently for rectification
- Providing suggestive corrective measures as well as improvement in systems & procedures.
Experience
- The job holder should have experience in the banking industry with good understanding of all consumer banking products. Must have exposure to Branch Banking / Operations / Central Processing Centers / Audit & Risk Teams.
Education / Preferred Qualifications
- The job holder needs to be at least a Graduate, preferably in the Commerce stream. CAIIB or equivalent qualifications will be beneficial/preferred. Knowledge and experience with MS Office and Core Banking Systems will be a basic requirement.

- The job holder needs to be organised so to enable handling multiple tasks with different branches while delivering within timelines.

- To understand the Product, Process and be able to identify and articulate risks and their controls/mitigation.
Communication Skills:
- The job holder needs confident effective verbal and written communication skills to discuss, convince and explain inspection findings.
Interpersonal Skills:
- The job holder works with diverse set of stakeholders across branches and requires adequate interpersonal/bonding skills.
Technical Competencies
- The job holder needs to have well developed knowledge and skills in working with MS Office and core banking systems.
