Building & Grounds Maintenance Associate

Job Summary:

The Yard Grader Associate is responsible for operating grading equipment to stabilize and maintain the heavy equipment yard. This position involves managing equipment movement, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized yard environment. The role also includes assisting in routine yard maintenance and supporting operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a dedication to safety and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Equipment Operation and Yard Maintenance:

• Operate a grader to level and stabilize yard surfaces.
• Load and unload heavy equipment utilizing forklifts, cranes, and other appropriate machinery.
• Perform detailed inspections of equipment during check-in and check-out, documenting any damage or maintenance needs.
• Clean equipment using pressure washing tools as required.
• Organize and store equipment and materials systematically to ensure accessibility and operational efficiency.
• Assist with the setup and dismantling of equipment as needed.
• Support overall yard cleanliness and safety through routine maintenance tasks.

 

Yard Maintenance:

• Maintain a clean and organized yard by mowing, weed eating, and picking up trash.
• Ensure the yard is free of hazards and complies with safety standards.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on the yard and equipment
• Perform various facility and yard maintenance duties, including landscaping, weed control, dirt work, trash removal, and mud control around company buildings and grounds.

 

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Yard Manager.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards. 

 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or inventory management role preferred.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery (forklifts, cranes) safely and efficiently.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Basic understanding of inventory management systems and software.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license required. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or training in heavy equipment operation.
• Experience using inventory or yard management software.
• Familiarity with safety regulations in an industrial yard setting. 

Working Conditions:

• Primarily outdoor work in a storage yard environment.
• Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting heavy objects, and using machinery.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required due to business needs.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
