Business Analyst
COVESTIC2
About the role
We're looking for a business analyst to join our data platform product team. You'll sit at the intersection of business and engineering — translating complex stakeholder needs into clear, actionable requirements, and ensuring the data platform delivers real value across the organisation. This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
Elicit, document, and manage requirements from a diverse set of business and technical stakeholders across the data platform lifecycle.
Act as the primary liaison between product, engineering, and business units — running stakeholder workshops, clarifying ambiguities, and aligning priorities.
Write detailed BRDs, user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can confidently build from.
Use SQL to query data sources, validate platform outputs, and support data-driven decision-making in product discussions.
Collaborate with data engineers on ETL pipeline requirements, ensuring business logic is correctly captured and implemented in data workflows.
Analyse and document API integration requirements, working across internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure seamless data flows.
Prepare and deliver clear, concise communications to exec and senior stakeholders on platform progress, risks, and outcomes.
Support UAT and QA processes by defining test scenarios, coordinating with business users, and tracking sign-off.
What we're looking for
Required
3–5 years of experience as a business analyst, ideally in a data, analytics, or platform product environment.
Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes — gathering requirements from both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong SQL skills — comfortable writing queries to explore, validate, and analyse data independently.
Familiarity with ETL concepts and data pipelines — able to engage meaningfully with data engineers on transformation logic and data flow.
Experience documenting and analysing API integrations, including working with REST APIs, data contracts, and integration specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication — able to distil technical complexity into exec-ready summaries and business-level language.
Strong data literacy — comfortable interpreting datasets, spotting anomalies, and reasoning about data quality and governance.
Nice to have
Exposure to data modelling concepts (dimensional modelling, data vault, etc.).
Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and working alongside product managers in a squad model.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks) or BI tooling (e.g. Looker, Tableau).
Background in a regulated industry (finance, healthcare, etc.) where data governance is critical.
What success looks like
In your first 90 days - You've mapped key stakeholders and delivered your first set of signed-off requirements.
At 6 months - You're a trusted bridge between business and data engineering, reducing rework and misalignment.
At 12 months - You're proactively shaping platform decisions and influencing product direction with data and stakeholder insight.
