About the role
Responsibilities
- Safely move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and designated yard locations
- Transport trailers between company facilities and off-site warehouse locations as required
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, movements, and yard inventory
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel, dispatch teams, and drivers to support efficient operational flow
- Ensure trailers are properly secured and positioned for loading and unloading activities
- Operate yard tractors, tractor-trailers, and related equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Monitor yard conditions and maintain organized trailer placement to maximize efficiency and safety
- Support shipping and receiving operations by ensuring timely trailer availability
- Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and transportation safety procedures
- Maintain compliance with vehicle inspection requirements and documentation standards
- Respond promptly to changing operational priorities and transportation needs
- Assist with inventory and logistics activities as needed to support warehouse operations
- Promote a safe work environment by identifying and reporting hazards or unsafe conditions
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
- Minimum 2–3 years of yard switching, shuttle driving, tractor-trailer driving, or related experience required
- Clean driving record with the ability to pass DOT drug screening and background check
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety procedures
- Experience operating yard tractors and tractor-trailers in warehouse or manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, dispatch teams, and drivers
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and enter/exit vehicles repeatedly throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job duties as required
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime as needed to support operational requirements
