About the role
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Delivery of product in truck - CDL Class A with manual transmission required.
- Operation of truck to deliver and pick up loads as requested by shipping and receiving department in a safe, efficient, timely, and legal manner.
- Daily truck and trailer inspections prior to use.
- Observe and report equipment or mechanical failures immediately.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and electronic logs in order to maintain accurate records for all trips required under state and federal laws and regulations.
- Maintain expense log with all receipts.
- Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance, including keeping the tractor clean.
Communicate with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs. - Comply with company safety policies and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
- Provide support to plant operations as needed.
WHAT YOU NEED
- High School Diploma or GED
- Commercial Driver License in good standing
- One year over the road experience
- Knowledge of all applicable DOT and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Frequently (more than 25% of time) required to: stand and/or walk, use ladders, climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch. Lift, carry and/or move items up to 100 pounds, without assistance; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate; and to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently exposed to a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Frequently (more than 25% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise.
- Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to machinery and mechanical, moving parts.
- Personal protective equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net, and food safety-related items, is required.
- Available for occasional overnight trips and have the ability to remain alert while driving for periods of time up to 11 hours.
