Photech employs highly skilled chemical technicians who work within our Lab Pack processing operations, where a Lab Pack is then manually deconstructed for bulk consolidation within our Lab Pack production space.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">The chemical technician is responsible for oversight and delivery of the entire process. The deconstruction and consolidation process requires experienced Chemical Technicians to sort through bins containing bottles of chemical wastes, separating for bulking chemical compatibility and disposal/recycling treatment technology. Chemicals are re-sorted into similar bins and labelled for the appropriate bulking station. Full bins are pushed further ahead on the manual roller conveyor to the end, where bins await labpack labourers who are tasked with the opening and bulking of segregated chemical wastes at designated bulking stations</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Responsibilities:</strong>&nbsp;</span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Work as part of a team in a chemical waste consolidation/processing area.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Work under difficult seasonal environment conditions (hot/cold)</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">The donning and use of task specific PPE, including but not limited to: Full face respiratory protection, Poly Coated Tyvek PPE, Hard Hat, CSA approved Safety Boots.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Conduct onsite evaluations to assess, categorize and segregate hazardous waste materials by chemical compatibility and disposition streaming.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Safely consolidate processable segregated waste for disposition.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Safely repack highly hazardous wastes for disposition.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Prepare and label bulk waste containers according to regulatory requirements and company policies.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Document and maintain accurate records of waste processing activities.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations involving hazardous materials.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Safe operation of lift trucks.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Occasional weekend work at company hosted household hazardous waste events across Ontario, providing technical chemical ID, segregation and packing services.</span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Basic Requirements:</strong>&nbsp;</span></p> <ul> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Completion of a two- or three-year college program in chemical, biochemical or chemical engineering technology or a closely related discipline</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Experience with Ontario Regulation 347 of the Environmental Protection Act.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Minimum 3 years experience in hazardous waste processing and material handling.</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with colleagues, and stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional exchanges of information</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies to achieve positive outcomes</span></li> <li style="font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;
