About the role

Reporting to the Night Operations Manager, you'll work alongside another PM Operations Supervisor to lead the evening shift and ensure freight is safely, accurately, and efficiently processed through our Christchurch operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll spend time on the warehouse floor, supporting the team with loading and unloading freight, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring the shift runs safely and efficiently from start to finish.

You'll provide leadership, direction, and support to the operational team while working alongside them to ensure freight moves safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the PM operational team to achieve safety, service, and productivity targets
- Coordinate the nightly freight operation to ensure freight is processed accurately and dispatched on time
- Provide hands-on leadership by assisting with loading, unloading, and freight handling as required
- Allocate resources and labour to meet operational requirements
- Ensure all freight is handled safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies
- Monitor operational performance and address issues as they arise
- Work closely with the Night Operations Manager and fellow PM Operations Supervisor to ensure seamless shift coverage
- Coach, support, and develop team members to achieve high performance
- Maintain operational documentation and complete shift reporting accurately
- Ensure equipment and vehicles are used safely and reported if maintenance is required
- Foster a positive team culture built on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience supervising teams within a transport, freight, logistics, warehousing, or distribution environment
- Proven ability to lead from the front in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong knowledge of freight handling, loading practices, and warehouse operations
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the willingness to work alongside your team
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
- Good computer literacy and experience using operational systems
- A current forklift certificate and experience is necessary for this role.
- A current Class 5 license would be advantageous
