- Assist with the installation of underground water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
- Perform trench excavation, grading, backfilling, and compaction activities.
- Install various types of utility pipe including PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, reinforced concrete, and corrugated metal pipe.
- Assist in the construction and installation of utility structures including manholes, inlets, catch basins, valve boxes, and meter pits.
- Perform proper tie-ins to existing water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Read and interpret construction plans, utility drawings, grade stakes, and specifications.
- Assist with utility line testing including pressure testing, leak testing, and sewer inspections.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, pumps, and other construction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Support crews in maintaining proper line and grade during utility installation.
- Install erosion control devices and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
- Perform site cleanup and restoration activities.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and trench safety requirements.
- Assist with traffic control setup and maintenance when required.
- High School Diploma / GED
- OSHA 10 or 30 (Preferred)
- CPR / First Aid Training (Preferred)
- Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details
- Travel for periods of time, as projects require
- Experience working with water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Knowledge of proper utility installation methods and industry standards.
- Experience installing and connecting utility structures and performing tie-ins to existing systems.
- Ability to work in trenches and around heavy equipment safely.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and utility layouts.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
