This is a unique opportunity to shape how millions of learners engage with Duolingo, not just today, but for years to come.</p> <p>You will work <strong>hand-in-hand with the Head of Community</strong> to craft and build the community function from scratch. You’ll bring creative ideas, help define structure and best practices, and co-create a vision for what a high-impact, high-delight global community looks like at Duolingo.</p> <p>At the same time, you will <strong>own and lead the day-to-day engagement across our community channels</strong>. You’ll be the front line of how we show up with learners, moderators, superfans, and ambassadors — cultivating joy, trust, safety, and belonging through every interaction.</p> <p>You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, and Customer Support to bring the community’s voice into the heart of the organization.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4><strong>🧠&nbsp; You will...</strong></h4> <p><strong>Own and lead day-to-day community operations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage our core community channels (e.g., Reddit, Discord) and drive daily engagement, conversation quality, and member experience</li> <li>Build and maintain strong relationships with moderators, ambassadors, and superfans</li> <li>Develop scalable processes, playbooks, and frameworks that uphold safety, trust, delight, and Duolingo’s signature tone</li> <li>Monitor community health, sentiment, and emerging risks, identifying insights and opportunities for continuous improvement</li> <li>Launch initiatives that grow participation, sentiment, and long-term community value</li> </ul> <p><strong>Own and lead day-to-day community operations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage our core community channels (e.g., Reddit, Discord) and drive daily engagement, conversation quality, and member experience</li> <li>Build and maintain strong relationships with moderators, ambassadors, and superfans</li> <li>Develop scalable processes, playbooks, and frameworks that uphold safety, trust, delight, and Duolingo’s signature tone</li> <li>Monitor community health, sentiment, and emerging risks, identifying insights and opportunities for continuous improvement</li> <li>Launch initiatives that grow participation, sentiment, and long-term community value</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4><strong>✅&nbsp; You have...</strong></h4> <ul> <li><strong>8+ years</strong> of experience in community management for a consumer-facing brand, ideally at scale.</li> <li>Proven experience growing and engaging online communities across multiple platforms (Reddit, Slack, Discord, etc.).</li> <li>Strong instincts for tone, voice, and the dynamics of internet culture.</li> <li>Experience managing moderators, ambassadors, creators, or similar stakeholder groups.</li> <li>A data-driven approach to decision-making, with comfort in interpreting qualitative and quantitative signals.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.</li> <li>Experience navigating complex community conversations and stewarding online reputation.</li> <li>Active Duolingo user.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h4><strong>⭐&nbsp; Exceptional candidates will have...</strong></h4> <ul> <li>Track record of building community programs of 1M+ members.</li> <li>Experience with shifting sentiment, scaling, and building advocates through community programs and tactics.</li> <li>Experience with international community management or scaling programs across cultures.</li> <li>Excels at both strategic planning and hands-on execution.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <hr><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description"><p><em>The offered salary is dependent upon several factors, including work experience, skills, and internal peer comparisons.
