</ul></div><h3><strong>The impact you will make</strong></h3>
<p>As a Control System Software Engineer you will participate in development of Control Systems for various components of a laser facility. You will work at the border between complex time critical hardware components and modern software technologies, establishing tools for automated development, testing and deployment of Control System software. You will work in a close contact with engineers and scientists who develop and use high power laser systems. You work will be critical to achieving stable, repeatable and safe laser operation on the path to commercial fusion energy.</p>
<h3><strong>Your responsibilities</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Develop, program and commission realtime automation architectures and machine protection systems around Beckhoff PLCs for various subsystems.</li>
<li>Design, build and support CI/CD pipelines for the Control System software.</li>
<li>Elicit and manage technical requirements together with engineers and scientists.</li>
<li>Collaborate on, and improve architecture and technology stack of the Control Systems. </li>
<li>Define and document functional specifications, test plans and acceptance criteria.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>What you bring</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or related Engineering field</li>
<li>3+ years of hands-on industry experience in software development, related to backend or control system programming</li>
<li>Extensive experience programming in OOP languages like: C++, Python, Java, C#, Kotlin, Rust or similar</li>
<li>Understanding of modern software development practices, processes and tools (CI/CD, Git, automated testing, etc.)</li>
<li>Experience of working in a software development team following established software development practices and processes</li>
<li>Fluent English; German proficiency is welcome </li>
<li>Flexibility, adaptability and a hands-on, can-do attitude </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What sets you apart</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with Beckhoff PLCs and TwinCAT (structured text, ladder or function blocks)</li>
<li>Experience with EPICS (epics-controls.org) development</li>
<li>Experience with development of distributed systems</li>
<li>Experience of working with scientific facilities like laser laboratories, accelerators, etc</li>
<li>Understanding of real-time control concepts and common industrial fieldbuses and interfaces such as EtherCAT, Modbus-TCP, and serial protocols</li>
