<p>To build our Payment services, we got technical cooperation from Paytm (A large payment service company in India). And based on their customer-first technologies , we created and expanded the smartphone payment service in Japan. Therefore, we have decided to establish a development base in India, because it is a major IT country with many talented engineers, as evidenced by the fact that cutting-edge mobile payments can continue to be generated.</p>

<h2><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Job Description</strong></span></h2>
<p>PayPay India is seeking a Corporate Legal Counsel to provide legal support and guidance for business operations, with the objective of enabling compliant, secure and efficient operations.</p>
<h3><strong>Department: </strong>Corporate</h3>
<h2><strong>Main Responsibilities</strong></h2>
<ul>
<li>Establish strong legal foundations as the company scales.</li>
<li>Ensure contracts, policies, and business activities are legally compliant.</li>
<li>Reduce legal and regulatory risks through proactive review and advisory.</li>
<li>Support incident response documentation and regulatory communication.</li>
<li>Build structured compliance processes rather than reactive handling.</li>
<li>Protect the company’s interests in commercial negotiations.</li>
<li>This role will act as a key legal gatekeeper.</li>
</ul>
<h2><strong>Key Roles & Responsibilities</strong></h2>
<h3><strong>A. Contract Management</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (vendor, partnership, NDA, service agreements, etc.).</li>
<li>Identify legal risks and provide mitigation strategies.</li>
<li>Maintain contract repository and ensure compliance with agreed terms.</li>
<li>Support business teams during contract discussions.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>B. Policy & Governance</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Draft, review, and update internal policies (HR policies, data protection, Privacy Policy, compliance, code of conduct, etc.).</li>
<li>Ensure e-Learnings compliance</li>
<li>Ensure alignment with applicable laws and industry regulations.</li>
<li>Develop SOPs for legal and compliance processes.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>C. Compliance Management</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Monitor regulatory requirements applicable to the company.</li>
<li>Ensure timely filings, registrations, and statutory compliance.</li>
<li>Conduct internal compliance reviews.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>D. Incident & Risk Support</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Support drafting of incident reports and regulatory communication.</li>
<li>Assist in handling legal notices and disputes.</li>
<li>Conduct preliminary legal assessment of business risks, RCM & BCP.</li>
<li>Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>E. Information Security Management</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Driving and increasing information security awareness across teams</li>
<li>Ensuring all relevant policies are regularly reviewed and kept up to date</li>
<li>Monitoring and ensuring timely completion of mandatory e-learning modules</li>
<li>Closely tracking developments in <strong>India’s DPDP law</strong> and ensuring appropriate and timely actions</li>
</ul>
<h2><strong>Qualifications</strong></h2>
<h3><strong>Educational Qualifications</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>LL.B. (Mandatory)</li>
<li>LL.M. (Preferred but not mandatory)</li>
<li>Company Secretary (CS) qualification (added advantage, not mandatory)</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Professional Experience</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>3-4 years of relevant experience</li>
<li>Experience in corporate/commercial law.</li>
<li>Exposure to compliance and regulatory frameworks.</li>
<li>Experience in contract negotiation.</li>
<li>Experience handling corporate governance matters.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h3>
<p>Mid-Level Corporate Legal Professional</p>
<ul>
<li>Has hands-on experience in contract drafting and review.</li>
<li>Can independently manage routine legal matters.</li>
<li>Understands compliance frameworks.</li>
<li>Has worked in a startup, fintech, corporate, or law firm setup.</li>
<li>Is comfortable working in a dynamic and evolving environment.</li>
</ul>
