That’s why we’re committed to removing barriers and creating fair opportunities for everyone.</p> <p><em>*</em><em> We are in a period of exclusive direct sourcing for this role and are not currently accepting applications from recruitment agencies.</em></p> <p><strong>________________________________________</strong></p> <p><strong>The role in 60 seconds</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Role:</strong> Credit Controller</li> <li><strong>Team:</strong> Accounts</li> <li><strong>Location:</strong> Plymouth, Exeter or Bristol</li> <li><strong>Working Pattern:</strong> Full-time (12 x month fixed term contract)</li> <li><strong>Why this role matters:</strong> You’ll play a key role in keeping the business running smoothly by ensuring cash flow remains healthy, billing is accurate and relationships with clients and internal stakeholders are handled with professionalism and care.</li> </ul> <p><strong>________________________________________</strong></p> <p><strong>What you’ll do</strong></p> <p>In this role, you’ll:</p> <ul> <li>Join a friendly, collaborative Accounts team.</li> <li>Proactively chase overdue invoices.</li> <li>Work towards cash collection targets and support financial performance.</li> <li>Partner with lawyers and stakeholders to resolve queries and manage debt.</li> <li>Follow the firm’s collections policy to ensure consistency and best practice.</li> <li>Support end-to-end billing, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.</li> <li>Maintain accurate records, including updates on payment pledges.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.</li> <li>Provide clear advice on billing and credit control queries.</li> <li>Produce ad hoc reports for the Billing and Credit Manager and wider team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>________________________________________</strong></p> <p><strong>What we’re looking for</strong></p> <p>We’re seeking someone with relevant experience who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and brings:</p> <ul> <li>Previous credit control experience within a professional services or legal environment.</li> <li>Strong understanding of accounts processes: client ledgers, disbursements, office accounts.</li> <li>Confident Excel and Word skills.</li> <li>Experience dealing with stakeholders and clients at all levels with professionalism.</li> <li>The ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload while maintaining high levels of accuracy.</li> <li>A proactive, organised approach and the ability to meet tight deadlines.</li> <li>A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in enhancing systems and processes.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to balance empathy with a focus on prompt cash collection.</li> <li>Good working knowledge of accounting and banking procedures.</li> <li>Experience with legal practice management systems (desirable).</li> <li>AAT or ICM qualifications (desirable).</li> <li>A strong team ethic and a collaborative, supportive approach.</li> </ul> <p><strong>________________________________________</strong></p> <p><strong>What if I don't tick every box?</strong></p> <p>We're not box tickers.
