About the role
What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, as a Cryptologic Cyber Planner Level 3, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of cyber operations across mission-critical environments. You will work with operational teams and Cyber Command elements to translate mission objectives into actionable cyber plans aligned with policy, doctrine, and operational constraints.
In this role, you will contribute to both strategic and operational planning, supporting joint and interagency efforts. You will help assess mission requirements, develop courses of action, and coordinate execution to ensure effective and compliant cyber operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and support cyber operational plans aligned with mission objectives and priorities
- Translate mission requirements into actionable planning tasks and operational workflows
- Coordinate with Cyber Command elements and internal stakeholders to enable cyber operations
- Apply applicable policy, doctrine, and planning frameworks to cyber mission planning activities
- Support joint planning processes, including development of courses of action (COAs) and operational plans
- Analyze mission requirements, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with DoD, IC, and external partners to support cross-agency mission execution
- Prepare planning documentation, briefings, and reports for leadership and operational teams
- Support operational execution by coordinating activities across multiple teams and mission partners
- Participate in working groups, planning sessions, and external coordination efforts
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience supporting cyber operations, cyber planning, or mission-focused intelligence activities
- Understanding of cyber operations, policy, and doctrine within DoD or IC environments
- Experience contributing to strategic and/or operational planning (e.g., joint operations)
- Ability to coordinate across multiple organizations and stakeholders
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including briefing experience
- Ability to work in fast-paced, mission-driven environments
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and twelve (12) years of relevant experience; OR
- Associate’s degree and ten (10) years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of relevant experience; OR
- Master’s degree and six (6) years of relevant experience; OR
- Doctoral degree and four (4) years of relevant experience
- Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related field is preferred, but not required
- Relevant experience must support cyber operations, intelligence analysis, or mission planning within the DoD or Intelligence Community
