This is your opportunity to join a young but fast growing company in its formative years in Australia, building on our successful foundations in the United States.   About the Role   As Cybersecurity Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation and oversight of cybersecurity architecture for defence grade systems across networks, platforms and on-premise environments. You will work across engineering and operations teams to ensure the integrity, compliance and resilience of secure systems in accordance with Australian standards and mission critical needs.   You will be instrumental in securing and maintaining an Authority to Operate (ATO) by implementing technical controls, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with the Australian ISM, IRAP (Infosec Registered Assessors Program) and other defence frameworks.   Reporting to the Bluestaq Australia leadership team, you will:   <ul> <li>Define and enforce cybersecurity standards in alignment with NIST, ISO/IEC 27001 and the ASD Essential Eight  </li> <li>Support the preparation and submission of cybersecurity artifacts required for ATO processes, including security documentation, risk registers and evidence packages  </li> <li>Implement and validate technical security controls in classified environments aligned with Australian ISM and ACSC requirements  </li> <li>Develop and deploy security tools to address vulnerabilities, automate tasks and strengthen defences  </li> <li>Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, vulnerability testing and security audits  </li> <li>Hands-on configuration and monitoring of security tools, analysing logs and security events to detect, assess and respond to threats  </li> <li>Collaborate with engineering teams to implement secure authentication, encryption and access control solutions  </li> <li>Evaluate and integrate emerging cybersecurity technologies to enhance infrastructure protection  </li> <li>Clearly articulate security strategies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support secure solution delivery  </li> <li>Provide expert level troubleshooting and resolution of complex security challenges  </li> </ul> About You   You must be willing to embrace our core values of Ownership, Curiosity, Talent and Trust and in addition have:   <ul> <li>6–8+ years of cybersecurity experience, preferably in defence, government or critical infrastructure sectors  </li> <li>Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through experience  </li> <li>CISSP certification (or equivalent), plus ASD recognised cybersecurity credentials  </li> <li>Strong expertise in Linux systems, networking security and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)  </li> <li>Hands-on experience with security automation and monitoring tools, including Ansible, SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, SO2), antivirus (AV) solutions, ACAS, Anchore, SonarQube, and related security technologies  </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to lead cybersecurity initiatives, influence architecture decisions and communicate effectively with stakeholders  </li> <li>Willingness to travel within Australia to customer and partner locations, including secure government or defence sites, and occasional travel to Bluestaq offices in the United States for collaboration or project work.  </li> <li>You must also be an Australian citizen, currently holding and able to maintain Australian Government NV2 security clearance.  </li> </ul> Your Benefits   <ul> <li>$170,000 – $205,000 per annum + superannuation + annual performance bonus  </li> <li>Private health cover allowance  </li> <li>Health/wellness allowance  </li> <li>Professional subscription  </li> <li>Salary sacrifice and salary packaging options  </li> <li>Additional 1 week of annual leave per year = 5 weeks per year  </li> <li>Other leave in accordance with the National Employment Standards and state long service leave legislation  </li> </ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">Salary Range (CO)</div><div class="pay-range">$170,000—$205,000 AUD</div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion">Join the Mission If you're ready to engineer secure, sovereign capable technology, Bluestaq Australia offers you the chance to lead and innovate at the forefront of national defence and critical infrastructure.
