About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Examine braille documents for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Identify and correct errors in formatting, spelling, punctuation, and braille code usage.
- Collaborate with braille transcribers, application developers and production staff to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of braille standards and best practices.
- Prepare reports and feedback on proofing outcomes as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proficiency in braille reading and writing; certification in braille transcription preferred.
- If not currently braille-certified, willingness to work toward obtaining braille transcription certification.
- Experience with assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, refreshable braille displays, and accessibility tools).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with relevant braille software and proofreading tools.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High School Diploma
