About the role
On-Site Responsibilities:
- Observations:
- Record weekly site observations.
- Assist with site design coordination queries.
- Attend site inspections of contractor installations.
- Raise and review site observations, field issues, and non-conformances with Owners, Contractors, OFCI vendors, etc.
- Site Inspections:
- Review equipment deliveries as requested.
- Observe contractor benchmarks, mock-ups, and samples.
- Attend QA/QC factory visits for vendor equipment inspection.
- Document and report findings from factory visits and inspections.
- Record and track observations and non-conformance issues raised during factory inspections.
- Testing:
- Attend all witness testing, including all L1 – L5 commissioning (Cx) tests.
- Meeting Attendance:
- Participate in site design coordination workshops, OFCI meetings, commissioning meetings, and BIM coordination.
- Documentation Support:
- Review and answer queries on-site with the goal of reducing RFIs from the contractor.
- Act as A/E POC for the Owner on discipline-specific design and installation questions.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
- Proficient in design and construction document management.
- Strong knowledge of construction administration and documentation.
- Capable of design document review and coordination across multiple disciplines.
- Experience in interpreting and adapting specifications appropriately.
- Solid understanding of building, fire, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with Owners, A/E consultants, and contractor staff.
- Ability to work independently in large-scale construction environments.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities from the Owner’s construction management team.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- PMP or similar project management certification (preferred).
- LEED certification (a plus).
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.
