About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to support model validation activities within a highly regulated financial environment. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in IFRS 9, Expected Credit Loss (ECL) methodologies, and advanced analytical modeling, combined with a solid understanding of the regulatory and accounting frameworks governing these models.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform independent validation of credit risk and IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) models in accordance with applicable regulatory and accounting requirements.
Assess model design, methodology, assumptions, implementation, and performance using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
Evaluate model robustness, stability, predictive power, and appropriateness across relevant portfolios and scenarios.
Identify model limitations and provide clear recommendations to strengthen model effectiveness and governance.
Collaborate with stakeholders across risk, finance, and analytics functions to communicate validation outcomes and support remediation activities.
Prepare high-quality validation documentation and reports aligned with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of model validation frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Data Scientist in a complex analytical environment.
Strong expertise in advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
In-depth knowledge of credit risk concepts and IFRS 9 regulatory and accounting frameworks.
Demonstrated experience in ECL model development and/or independent model validation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to challenge and assess complex models objectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Professional proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with model risk management principles and validation best practices.
Experience working with large and complex datasets in enterprise environments.
