About the role
Our client is establishing a crypto-focused online casino business under a Hong Kong holding company. The business operates in a regulated environment and requires strong financial controls, reporting discipline, and close coordination across related entities.
The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the end-to-end accounting and finance function of a fast-growing crypto casino operating in a regulated gaming environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines team management with day-to-day accounting ownership. Working closely with the founders and senior leadership team, the role oversees financial reporting, audit management, crypto and digital asset accounting, regulatory compliance, treasury and cash flow management, internal controls, and tax matters.
The position also provides commercial support through contract reviews and financial analysis while developing a high-performing finance team and ensuring accuracy, accountability, and strong financial governance across the business.
- 30 years old and above
- Willing to work Hong Kong time
- Strong qualifications in accounting, business, or finance
- Previous management experience
- Hands-on bookkeeping experience
- Experience using QuickBooks or Xero
- Strong auditing experience with ownership of the end-to-end audit process
- Taxation experience preferred
- Direct eCasino, gaming, gambling, or iGaming industry experience preferred; candidates from sports betting, fintech, and other regulated industries may also be considered
- Good understanding of crypto or Bitcoin
- Familiarity with IFRS and U.S. GAAP
- Experience reviewing contracts and interpreting key commercial terms
- Ability to collaborate with legal and external stakeholders
- Experience in startup, growth-stage, or fast-scaling environments
- Ability to provide NBI clearance (soft copy and hard copy)
Accounting Operations & Financial Management
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Oversee multiple merchant accounts and bank accounts
- Monitor and report on the company's cash position
- Perform end-to-end bookkeeping activities, including journal entries and transaction recording
- Own and manage the monthly close process
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements
- Ensure all financial reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain financial models and update forecasts on a regular basis
- Support budgeting and financial planning activities
Audit, Compliance & Controls
- Lead and oversee audit activities and act as the primary owner of the audit process
- Ensure compliance with accounting and financial reporting requirements
- Support tax-related matters and maintain proper financial records
- Review supplier contracts and summarize key commercial terms before approval
- Work with legal stakeholders when required
- Maintain appropriate financial controls and operating procedures
Systems, Infrastructure & Process Development
- Build accounting processes and procedures from scratch
- Participate in the selection and implementation of accounting systems
- Maintain alignment with systems used by the parent company
- Utilize QuickBooks, Xero, or other accounting systems as required
- Establish scalable finance processes to support future growth
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage the accounting function in a hands-on capacity
- Initially perform all bookkeeping responsibilities without dedicated support staff
- Provide weekly updates and financial discussions with management
- Support future hiring and development of the finance team as the business expands
- Ensure high standards of accuracy, accountability, and financial discipline
