<p><strong>About Buildkite</strong></p> <p>Buildkite’s CI platform is trusted by the world’s leading engineering teams, shipping software to over 1,000,000,000 daily users.</p> <p><strong>Job Overview</strong></p> <p>This is a rare “own the whole surface” web role: the chance to run Buildkite’s most visible experience end-to-end, turning brand and product narrative into a fast, beautiful, scalable website.</p> <p>This newly created role in our Brand team exists to make our web presence fast, elegant, differentiated, and durable; a system that can evolve with our story, showcase real proof, and ship new pages and content without painful rebuilds or fragile hacks.</p> <p>You’ll own the craft at the intersection of design quality and production-grade frontend engineering, collaborating across the company from product to sales to support and back again.</p> <p><strong>🚀 What You’ll Do</strong></p> <p><strong>Own the Buildkite website and CMS end-to-end</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the full web experience: information architecture, layout and design, frontend implementation, performance, accessibility, and ongoing quality</li> <li>&nbsp;Ensure the website remains a credible, differentiated, product-grade experience that reflects Buildkite’s standards</li> </ul> <p><strong>Build a component-driven system that scales</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design and build a reusable component system that stays on-brand and supports new pages, products, and content types</li> <li>Establish patterns that make shipping fast while maintaining craft and consistency</li> </ul> <p><strong>Define and maintain the web platform stack</strong></p> <ul> <li>Collaborate and lead on the direction of the website stack: framework, styling, build tooling, CI, hosting, analytics, and experimentation</li> <li>Set pragmatic standards that keep the platform modern, maintainable, and resilient over time</li> </ul> <p><strong>Evolve CMS integration and publishing workflows</strong></p> <ul> <li>Improve how content ships across the org, with safe guardrails and governance</li> <li>Build preview environments, validations, reusable modules, and publishing standards that enable broader teams to contribute confidently</li> </ul> <p><strong>Translate Buildkite’s identity into a living system</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work embedded in a centralised Brand team to bring typography, motion, interaction patterns, theming, and responsiveness to life</li> <li>Ensure Buildkite’s design language is expressed consistently across the web surface</li> </ul> <p><strong>Partner across the company as the web craft owner</strong></p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with every org function to ensure the end-to-end Buildkite experience is cohesive, coherent, and compelling</li> <li>Align stakeholders while protecting quality, performance, and long-term maintainability</li> </ul> <p><strong>Establish a sustainable operating model</strong></p> <ul> <li>Build monitoring, performance budgets, accessibility checks, search hygiene, and documentation</li> <li>Create regular reporting and operational cadence</li> </ul> <p><strong>Run a Web OS that compounds</strong></p> <p>You’ll operate with a cadence that scales beyond you - building a web platform that gets sharper, faster, and more undeniable every time we ship:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Craft loop:</strong> interaction, motion, typography; the details engineers feel</li> <li><strong>System loop:</strong> components and patterns that make new pages inevitable, not bespoke</li> <li><strong>Performance loop:</strong> speed, accessibility, SEO, reliability; always product-grade</li> <li><strong>Publishing loop:</strong> CMS guardrails so the org can ship without breaking the surface</li> <li><strong>Proof loop:</strong> repeatable launches and pages that turn Buildkite’s reality into receipts</li> <li><strong>Trust loop:</strong> simple metrics that show the site compounding, not drifting</li> </ul> <p><strong>Represent Buildkite through the web with authority and taste</strong></p> <ul> <li>Treat the website as our most visible brand experience, not a brochure</li> <li>Craft a domain that engineers respect in their bones</li> <li>Shape what “good” looks like for Buildkite on the modern web</li> </ul> <p><strong>🎨 What You Bring</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience extending brand systems across a modern web presence</li> <li>Experience with design tooling such as Figma, Sketch, or similar</li> <li>Strong frontend engineering background with frameworks such as Astro, Next, Tailwind, or equivalent</li> <li>Familiarity with the DevTools and the DevOps ecosystem,understanding what credibility looks like for technical audiences</li> <li>Proven ability to tackle complex problem-solving, independently or collaboratively</li> <li>Clear communication skills;
