About the role

Position Summary

The OKAG Ministry Network is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual to join the Camp Cargill team in a part-time, seasonal capacity. The Dining Center Employee is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining food service operations in a school or camp dining environment. This role supports a welcoming, safe, and nutritious mealtime experience for students, campers, and staff



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Food Preparation & Service

  • Assist with preparing and cooking meals according to established menus and recipes
  • Serve food to students, campers, and staff in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Follow portion guidelines and dietary accommodations (allergies, vegetarian, religious restrictions)
  • Restock food stations and serving lines throughout meal periods


Sanitation & Food Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving areas, and dining room before, during, and after service
  • Follow all food safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature monitoring
  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and equipment using commercial dishwashing systems
  • Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with facility procedures


Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, supervisors, and other dining employees
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors about supply needs, equipment issues, or guest concerns
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of dining areas for each meal service


Guest Experience

  • Interact with students/campers in a positive, patient, and encouraging manner
  • Address concerns or special requests professionally and escalate when necessary



Qualifications


Required

  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Strong attention to hygiene and food safety practices
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented work ethic



Preferred

  • Prior food service or customer service experience
  • Experience working with children or in a camp/school setting


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, kneel, push, pull, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Must be able to safely operate equipment and tools customary in commercial kitchens.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
