Director, Asia Currencies and Emerging Markets Trading, Global Markets & Treasury Asia Pacific

The individual will join the FX and Rates trading team in SMBC GMTAP and be responsible for market making and risk management in Asia Emerging Market currency products.

Job Title: Director, Senior Trader – Asia Emerging Markets (EM) Currencies 

 

Job Purpose

The individual will join FX and Rates trading team in SMBC Global Markets & Treasury Asia Pacific division (GMTAP) and be responsible for market making and risk management in Asia EM currency products

 

Job Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in market-making, execution, risk management, market insights, and advisory services on Asia emerging market FX and rates products.
• Maximize SMBC clients’ transaction volume and revenue across FX (NDF), rates (NDS, NDIRS), and options (ND Option) products.
• Enhance the trading desk to deliver top-notch professional service to SMBC’s clients.
• Adhere to all SMBC rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Collect and update market information, providing insightful market commentary to SMBC colleagues.

 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or Commerce.
• At least 10 years of experience as an interbank trader in Asia emerging markets.
• Strong working knowledge of Asia EM currency markets, including NDF, NDS, NDIRS and ND options.
• Familiarity with onshore markets and regulations in the APAC region.
• Solid understanding of Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate markets.
• Strong fundamental and technical market analytical skills.
• Comfortable with data and model analysis.
• Excellent team player with strong ethics.
• Well-read and genuinely interested in financial markets.
