About the role

Director, Business Development – IT Staffing Cynet Systems Canada

This role is for closers

If you've built your career opening doors that didn't exist, winning contracts before an RFP hits the street, and walking into cold rooms and walking out with signed agreements — keep reading.

Cynet Systems Canada is growing aggressively in the Canadian IT staffing market, and we need a hunter who can lead that charge.

If you've spent your career expanding existing accounts and managing relationships, this isn't the right fit.

What You're Actually Being Hired To Do

Own new logo acquisition in the Canadian IT sector. Full stop. Your mandate is net-new: enterprise organizations, public sector institutions, and technology-driven businesses that aren't currently Cynet clients. You will build your pipeline from the ground up, close high-value staffing contracts, and be accountable to clear, ambitious revenue targets.

This is not a role where you inherit a book of business. It is a role where you build one.

Day to day, that means:

  • Prospecting relentlessly — phone, network, events, LinkedIn, cold outreach — whatever it takes to get in front of the right buyers
  • Converting your existing network of C-suite, Procurement, and HR/Talent leaders into contracted clients
  • Identifying and winning opportunities before they become formal RFPs, leveraging relationships and market intelligence others don't have
  • Owning the full sales cycle: from first conversation to signed contract, including complex multi-stakeholder negotiations
  • Maintaining a high-velocity pipeline with disciplined CRM hygiene and accurate forecasting
  • Targeting high-volume, long-term placements across Application Development, Data Architecture, Business Analysis, and Project Management
  • Savviness with procurement workflows and the ability to keep negotiations flowing
  • Partnering with legal and finance on contract structuring — profitable, compliant, and built to scale

Requirements

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of B2B sales or business development experience, with at least 5 years selling directly into the Canadian IT sector
  • A verifiable, active network of decision-makers at enterprise and public sector organizations — not contacts you knew five years ago, contacts who will take your call today
  • A track record of consistently beating quota in a net-new, complex sales environment
  • The ability to navigate multi-stakeholder procurement processes — and the savvy to win business before those processes start
  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian IT ecosystem: how buyers think, how contracts are structured, and where the market is moving
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of business development tools (like ZoomInfo or Apollo) is a strong asset

What We're Not Looking For

We'll be direct, because it saves everyone time:

  • Account managers who describe themselves as hunters
  • Candidates whose "new business" came primarily from inbound leads or marketing-generated pipeline
  • Relationship maintainers who excel at renewals and upsells but haven't opened a cold account in years

If your strongest examples in an interview will be about growing existing accounts, this is not the role for you — and that's okay. If your strongest examples are about doors you kicked open, this is exactly the role for you.

What's In It For You

  • Competitive base salary with an aggressive, uncapped commission structure — top performers earn significantly above OTE
  • Autonomy to build and execute your own strategy — we hire hunters and then get out of their way
  • A strong delivery and recruitment infrastructure behind you so you can sell with confidence
  • A growing brand with CAMSC certification and an expanding public sector and enterprise portfolio to leverage
  • Real equity in your success — your pipeline is yours to build and own
  • Remote first work environment, 25% travel to see clients
