Part-Time Director of Operations & Shipping – Live Auction Sales (Whatnot) | Upper East Side, NYC
A growing company specializing in live auction sales on Whatnot is seeking a Part-Time Director of Operations & Shipping to oversee day-to-day logistics, fulfillment, and operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on, on-site role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable working side-by-side with a live salesperson during auctions to support real-time operations and shipping.
Location:
On-site a few days per week in our office on the Upper East Side (East 70s), Manhattan
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all shipping and fulfillment operations during and after live auctions
- Work closely next to the live salesperson during auctions to support real-time order flow and logistics
- Manage inventory flow, packing processes, and carrier coordination
- Ensure timely, accurate order processing and delivery
- Develop and improve operational workflows and systems
- Troubleshoot logistics issues and implement scalable solutions
- Create and update storefront thumbnails and visual assets for the Whatnot app to support branding and drive engagement
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in operations, shipping, or fulfillment management
- Experience with e-commerce, live selling, or high-volume order environments strongly preferred
- Ability to work in a live, fast-paced sales environment alongside a salesperson
- Ability to create compelling thumbnails/visuals for storefronts (experience with Whatnot or similar platforms is a plus)
- Familiarity with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, or similar) preferred
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
