About the role

<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The Domain Managing Architect provides strategic architectural leadership across the Digital domains. This role leverages enterprise architecture disciplines, frameworks, and tools to ensure that technology solutions align with the long-term best interests of Horace Mann.</p> <p><br>Key Responsibilities<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Develop and maintain current, future, and transitional state architectures.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Create conceptual, logical, and physical architecture models and diagrams.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Formulate and review high-level design documents.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Define, document, and govern architectural decisions across programs and projects.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Develop and enforce architecture policies, standards, and processes in partnership with the Chief Architect and CIO.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Identify and establish new enterprise building blocks and reusable architectural patterns.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Establish AI governance frameworks including model risk management, explainability, fairness, and compliance.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Lead and approve Enterprise Architecture Assessments. including AI-enabled and cloud migration solutions.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, security, data, privacy, and responsible AI expectations.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Provide best-practice guidance in evaluating and selecting vendor products and technology platforms.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Partners with Solution Delivery teams, architects, and technical leads to maintain current, target, and transition architectures.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Facilitate consensus across diverse technical and business teams.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Lead modernization efforts including legacy rationalization, decommissioning, and adoption of cloud-native and AI-ready platforms.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive and non-technical audiences.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Identify and mitigate architecture risks, and technical debt.<br> <br>Required Qualifications<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in architecture leadership roles&nbsp;<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Proven experience leading cloud transformation and legacy modernization programs at enterprise scale&nbsp;<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Exceptional communication and leadership skills in both technical and business contexts<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Brings broad cross-domain knowledge spanning enterprise and solution architecture, data platforms, integration, infrastructure, networking, and security to design scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience working within an Enterprise Architecture framework (e.g., TOGAF).<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Fluency in modern architecture practices, including cloud-native, microservices, event-driven, and AI-enabled architectures.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Proven experience leading legacy modernization and enterprise cloud transformation initiatives across complex technology landscapes.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to define and govern enterprise architecture standards, patterns, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Expertise in creating architecture artifacts and diagrams (e.g., Visio, draw.io).<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Collaborate with business leaders, IT leadership, and engineering organizations to translate strategic objectives into scalable technology solutions.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience in risk management and executive-level presentations.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Demonstrated ability to lead across organizational boundaries and drive consensus.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience with digital transformation</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience in the insurance industry is highly preferred.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience in the Customer, Distribution and Producer/Agent business domains<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience implementing AI governance frameworks in regulated environments.<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Exposure to Agentic AI and Generative AI (LLMs, RAG, vector databases)&nbsp;<br>• &nbsp; &nbsp;Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS SA).</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Pay Range:</p> <ul> <li>$124,200.00 - $175,800.00 &nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>#APP</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11.0pt;">#VIZI</p> <p style="margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri; font-size: 11.0pt;">#LI-LM1</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><div class="content-conclusion"><p>Horace Mann was founded in 1945 by two Springfield, Illinois, teachers who saw a need for quality, affordable auto insurance for teachers.
