Overview
The Head of Wealth Management Brokerage Technology leads the strategic design, engineering, and delivery of the bank’s brokerage and wealth‑trading platform. This role focuses on building high‑performance, scalable systems that enable seamless client trading, global market access, and rapid product expansion across equities, ETFs, and cryptio. The role partners closely with business and product teams to support growth in both retail and affluent client segments.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Architecture
- Set the long‑term technology strategy for brokerage and wealth‑trading platforms, aligned with the bank’s multi‑market growth agenda.
- Architect resilient, secure, and scalable systems covering client channels, order management, execution, market data, risk controls, and post‑trade flows.
- Lead platform modernisation and adoption of cloud‑native, event‑driven, and API‑first designs to support higher trading volumes and new markets.
- Ensure architecture readiness for expansion into new asset classes, cross‑border trading, and multi‑market connectivity.
Platform Build & Delivery
- Oversee the build‑out of front‑to‑back brokerage systems—client trading interfaces, OMS/EMS, routing engines, settlement interfaces, and global market access gateways.
- Strengthen integrations with exchanges, regional brokers, market‑data providers, and liquidity partners to support wealth‑trading needs.
- Drive key engineering outcomes including low‑latency execution, high availability, and automated controls for market‑access risk.
- Lead delivery of new trading features such as fractional trading, 24 by 7 trading, global multi‑market access and advanced order types,.
Operations, Reliability & Risk Management
- Establish robust SRE frameworks to deliver zero downtime for critical trading windows.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring, proactive incident management, disaster‑recovery capabilities and elastic scaling for high‑volume trading days.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including technology‑risk standards, market‑conduct rules, and operations controls across markets.
Business Partnering & Product Leadership
- Partner with brokerage, wealth, and digital product teams to translate commercial priorities into technical roadmaps and delivery outcomes.
- Co‑lead product innovation across retail and wealth‑trading customer journeys, ensuring platform readiness for new market launches.
- Support business strategy with data‑driven insights on trading scalability, market‑connectivity opportunities, and client‑experience improvements.
People & Stakeholder Leadership
- Build and lead high‑performing engineering, architecture, and platform‑operations teams with strong brokerage and market‑access expertise.
- Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, technical excellences and disciplinedexecution.
- Communicate platform strategy, risks, and delivery progress clearly to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in brokerage, wealth‑trading, or capital‑markets technology, with deep understanding of multi‑market trading workflows.
- Proven success delivering mission‑critical trading systems (OMS/EMS, market connectivity, real‑time data, and post‑trade processing).
- Expertise in legacy refactoring, cloud engineering, microservices, API‑driven platforms, and real‑time data architectures.
- Familiarity with regulatory and technology‑risk expectations in cross‑border trading environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and product stakeholders and simplify technical concepts.
- Experience leading engineering or platform teams within high‑scale trading environments.
