About the role
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership and Staff Development
- Supervise and support teachers, assistants, and substitutes across assigned classrooms
- Conduct classroom observations and provide clear, actionable coaching feedback
- Develop individualized professional development plans and monitor required training hours
- Guide staff in implementing curriculum and classroom management frameworks consistently
- Address performance concerns with documented observations and escalate when necessary
Child Assessment and School Readiness
- Oversee assessment systems to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality
- Analyze child outcome data to identify trends and inform instruction
- Ensure lesson planning aligns with early learning standards and frameworks
- Support development of individualized learning plans based on assessment data
Compliance and Program Quality
- Maintain compliance with Head Start standards and regulatory requirements
- Monitor classroom ratios, safety practices, and learning environments
- Participate in audits, program reviews, and reporting requirements
- Manage classroom resources and supplies in line with program budgets
Family and Community Engagement
- Support parent-teacher conferences and home visit processes
- Encourage family involvement and strengthen home-school partnerships
- Collaborate with family services, behavioral health, and medical teams to support families
Additional Contributions
- Participate in leadership meetings, planning sessions, and agency events
- Support recruitment and community outreach efforts
- Promote organizational services and connect families to appropriate resources
Qualifications
Required
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or progress toward certification requirements
- Commitment to obtaining required Early Childhood certification within one year (if not already held)
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in an early childhood setting
- Demonstrated ability to use assessment data to guide instruction and staff development
Preferred
- Experience with classroom observation tools and early childhood curricula
- Familiarity with child development frameworks and compliance standards
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese)
- Experience in federally funded early childhood programs
