About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and enforce environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local/state regulatory requirements
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across production and facility areas
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Maintain and track EHS metrics, including incident rates, corrective actions, and compliance activities
- Lead and support safety training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing employee training
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Facilities, and HR to promote a strong safety culture
- Identify hazards and implement controls to reduce workplace risks and environmental impact
- Support emergency response planning, drills, and incident preparedness activities
- Maintain documentation for regulatory reporting, inspections, and internal audits
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of EHS policies and procedures
- Support workers’ compensation case management and return-to-work programs as needed
- Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections or inquiries
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in EHS, safety, or environmental compliance in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards
- Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 standards preferred
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in a production environment for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
