You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficient of our facility electrical systems. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of systems, see work through systems designed through testing and production, and communicate with a highly collaborative, cross-functional team. If you seek high-impact and are excited by fast-paced, intense, Skunkworks-style projects, we encourage you to reach out to join our team.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design, develop, analyze, test, and evaluate electrical equipment and systems, ranging from low-voltage DC to high-voltage three-phase systems, including related components and infrastructure.&nbsp;</li> <li>Analyze and design onsite power generation systems, including microgrids, natural gas generators, and integrated backup power systems with a focus on load management, reliability, and grid interconnectivity.</li> <li>Evaluate electrical load profiles and energy demands to develop optimized onsite generation strategies and power distributions configurations.&nbsp;</li> <li>Support operation, maintenance, and improvement of facility systems, such as grounding, lighting protection, fire alarms, circuit breakers, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), battery systems, and transformers.&nbsp;</li> <li>Support the planning, design, and implementation of electrical control systems and modifications, integrating various electrical components and accommodating diverse power distribution requirements.</li> <li>Develop and provide detailed specifications and design documentation for contractors and project stakeholders, ensuring timely, code-compliant, and high-quality delivery of work.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with and receive mentorship from senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience in advanced electrical design, analysis, and system integration while contributing to complex power and control projects.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline.</li> <li>Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).</li> <li>Strong understanding of one or more of the following: electrical systems architecture, circuit design, I&amp;C systems, power systems, and/or grid management.&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Skills and Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.</li> <li>3+ years of design experience designing electronics (research and extracurricular academic projects qualify).</li> <li>Ability to design and analyze electrical systems in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.</li> <li>Experience in circuit design and analysis.</li> <li>Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.&nbsp;</li> <li>Experience with asset management.&nbsp;</li> <li>Comfortable quickly learning new analysis methodologies, simulations tools, and circuit topologies.&nbsp;</li> <li>Maintains high standards of technical documentation by ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency.</li> <li>Proactively communicates progress and risks and contributes to a culture of transparency.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Additional Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Equal Opportunity Employer</strong></p> <p>General Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.</p> <p><strong>Compensation and Benefits</strong></p> <p>The base salary range for this role is <strong>$90,000-$105,000 </strong>annually.&nbsp;</p> <p>Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. <span data-teams="true">Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors.</span> In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision &amp; dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.</p>
