About the role
The Electrical Lead Design Engineer leads all electrical engineering design activities for EPC oil & gas and petrochemical projects. The role ensures technical integrity, compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, and successful project execution from design through commissioning, while acting as the main electrical interface with Saudi Aramco and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and approve electrical system design including HV/MV/LV power distribution, substations, MCCs, lighting, grounding, and hazardous area systems.
- Perform and review power system studies using ETAP or SKM (load flow, short circuit, harmonics, protection coordination).
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Aramco electrical standards, IEC codes, and project specifications.
- Coordinate electrical design with other engineering disciplines and review vendor technical documents.
- Lead and mentor the electrical engineering team and support construction and commissioning activities.
- Identify technical risks and ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; CEng, P.E., or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum 15 years of electrical design experience in oil & gas or petrochemical EPC projects.
- Electrical Lead experience on at least two full-cycle Saudi Aramco projects.
- Experience with major international EPC contractors preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in HV/MV systems (115/110 kV, 33 kV and below) and large substations.
- Proficient in ETAP or SKM and Dialux/Relux.
- Strong knowledge of SAES electrical standards and IEC codes.
- Fluent in English with strong leadership and communication skills.
