Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production. </span><span data-ccp-props="{}">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span data-contrast="auto">We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.</span><span data-ccp-props="{}">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span data-contrast="auto">Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.</span><span data-ccp-props="{}">&nbsp;</span></p> <p><strong>Electrical Engineer - Instrumentation &amp; Controls&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>As an Electrical I&amp;C Engineer, you will design, document, and implement ground-up electrical power, instrumentation, and control systems for both a new industrial enrichment&nbsp;facility and a range of advanced prototypes and R&amp;D systems.&nbsp;This role spans control panel design, PLC-based automation, instrumentation, and hands-on system&nbsp;integration, with scope and responsibility determined by experience level. You will work across early R&amp;D&nbsp;prototypes through full facility-scale systems, engaging directly with hardware throughout the lifecycle.</p> <p>Open to multiple levels of experience.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design and test ground-up electrical and controls systems for new facilities, advanced prototypes, and R&amp;D systems.</li> <li>Design, test, and integrate instrumentation and controls systems for industrial automation applications, including: <ul> <li>Control panel schematics</li> <li>Wiring diagrams and I/O documentation</li> <li>Panel layouts and harness documentation</li> </ul> </li> <li>Use electrical CAD tools to produce and maintain detailed drawings.&nbsp;</li> <li>Design and support PLC-based controls systems, including instrumentation, field devices, and control architectures.&nbsp;</li> <li>Design and analyze AC power systems for industrial equipment and control panels, including single-phase and three-phase power distribution.&nbsp;</li> <li>Support design and integration of facility electrical infrastructure systems such as UPS systems, battery backup systems, generators, and backup power distribution.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical, mechanical, process, and software systems.&nbsp;</li> <li>Develop technical documentation and specifications for internal use, vendors, and contractors.&nbsp;</li> <li>Support testing, commissioning, and ongoing system improvements across R&amp;D and facility deployments.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li><span data-contrast="auto">Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.</span></li> <li><span data-contrast="auto">3+ years of experience in electrical design tool for control systems, such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, &amp; EPLAN.</span></li> <li><span data-contrast="auto">Working knowledge of electrical systems architecture, circuit design, industrial instrumentation and control systems, PLC-based automation, and/or industrial communications protocols such as EtherCAT, CAN bus, Ethernet/IP, etc.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span data-contrast="auto">Ability to perform trade studies, reason from first principles, and make sound engineering decisions with incomplete information.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span data-contrast="auto">Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.</span><span data-ccp-props="{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:300}">&nbsp;</span></li> <li>Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Skills and Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience designing ground-up electrical and control systems for industrial facilities, pilot plants, or R&amp;D environments.</li> <li>Experience in industrial automation, chemical plants, process industries, or similar environments.</li> <li>Control panel design experience, including schematics, layouts, and wiring documentation.</li> <li>Familiarity with AC power systems, including breakers, relays, transformers, and three-phase power.&nbsp;</li> <li>Familiarity with backup power systems, including UPS sizing, battery systems, generators, and critical load management.&nbsp;</li> <li>Hands-on experience building, wiring, or commissioning industrial electrical systems.</li> <li><span data-contrast="auto">Ability to thrive in a&nbsp;</span><span data-contrast="auto">fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment</span><span data-contrast="auto">, balancing technical rigor with practical constraints.</span><span data-ccp-props="{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:300}">&nbsp;</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>Additional Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Equal Opportunity Employer</strong></p> <p>General Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.</p> <p><strong>Compensation and Benefits:&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>The base salary range for this role is <strong>$85,000–$175,000 </strong>annually.&nbsp;</p> <p>Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. <span data-teams="true">Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors.</span> In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision &amp; dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
